"AN OLD FASHION CHRISTMAS BUGGY RIDE" ~ 36"x48" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Luminous Landscapes Oil Paintings by Connie Tom

I wanted everything about this painting to savor of two things.... Christmas and romance. From the intense and colorful sunset in the sky to the lighted windows, coziness and warmth in the log cabin. From the Christmas tree in the window and the frosty snowman in the yard to the lovers in the horse drawy buggy. From the smoke coming out of the chimney, you know there’s a roaring fire inside awaiting the couple. With the glistening snow and majestic mountains, I wanted this scene to be full of love, light and beauty and to evoke feelings of Christmas cheer, joy and peace. ~ Enjoy!

"Be careful for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." ~ Philippians 4:6-8.

"O' Give Me a Home, Where the Buffalo Roam" ~ 36"x48" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Luminous Landscapes Oil Paintings by Connie Tom

Just as the song says...."O' Give Me A Home, Where the Buffalo Roam"... While painting this painting, my heart yearned, if not but for a little while, to live in the days of the Old West. Just sitting on a hill viewing this panaramic view of this Montana landscape, watching the buffalo roam free. Just breathing in this breathtaking beauty of nature and the wonder of wildlife and experiencing a sense of absolute freedom. I love intricate cloud formations and skies and dramatic lighting. The clouds and sky definitely sets the mood, atmosphere and lighting of the painting. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie

"Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvelous kindness in a strong city." ~ Psalm 31:19-21.

"Sunset at Grand Falls" ~ 34"x22" Hudson River School A Painting a Day Arizona Sunset Landscapes by Connie Tom

I love waterfalls! This one reminds me of the free flowing love and grace of Almighty God showing something about His character through His Creation. The Bible says that we can know the invisible things of God through the things that are seen. This work pictures a brilliant sunset back in the 80's over Grand Falls, Arizona. The light shining through the fog and mist breaks down into prismatic colors through the mist and fog. ~ Enjoy!

"Twilight" ~ 24" x 30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom

This was a study of another Hudson River School master, Jasper Cropsey, who painted back in the 1800's and who also is a favorite of mine. He had such a gift of creating mood and atmosphere and painted many panaramic scenes such as this one. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie

"Country Road, Take me Home...." 24" x 30" Chisholm Trail Art Daily Painters by Connie Tom

As we all grow up and grow older, our lives get busier and more complicated. More demands are made on us and life can become stressful and uncomfortable. It's times like these, that we think back to a time when we felt at ease.... at peace, happy... and loved just for who we are. Maybe it's a place. Maybe it's a person or a set of circumstances that is home to our souls. That our hearts yearn to be back in. If only in our minds eye, we sometimes need to get back on that country road and let it take us "home". To a simpler way of life. Where there was much joy and laughter. There's a richness of beauty there to behold. The country and western song from which this title was taken goes, “Country Road.... Take Me Home, to a Place I belong....”

"Colors of Autumn II" ~ Autumn Landscape A Painting a Day Hudson River School by Connie Tom

Autumn is my favorite season of the year. I love the vibrant and cheer colors. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Sometimes we see with our spiritual eyes...places we long to escape to. I hope with my paintings I can create beautiful windows on your walls of places you would yearn to be. Enjoy!

"For the Scripture saith, 'Whosoever believeth on Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." ~ Romans 10:11-13.

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, (Numbers 21:5-9) even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." ~ John 3:14-18.

"Reflections of Autumn V" ~ 20"x16" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Autumn Tree Landscapes by Connie Tom

This work pictures a mid-view of water with two canoeists in a canoe in autumn. Autumn is in full array and it's exciting reds and wonderful colors are being reflected in the water. I thought about putting a horizon line or a ground line in the upper portion of the painting, but decided to leave the whole scene in view of the beautiful autumn reflections in the water. I liked the blurriness of the colorful reflections in the water in contrast to the distinctiveness of the canoeists and the canoe. ~ Enjoy!

"If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." ~ 1 John 5:9-11

"Sunset Over Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons" ~ 24"x36" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Western Landscapes

This work pictures a beautiful sunset over Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons located in Wyoming. As I have confessed before, an artist I am... a photographer I'm not. The easel light over the painting during the photographing has washed out the colors in the sky area and the photos just do not render justice to the actual painting. But I hope you enjoy anyway! ~ Connie

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, O LORD my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest Thyself with light as with a garment: Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of His chambers in the waters: Who maketh the clouds His chariot: Who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh His angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire." ~ Psalm 104:1-4

"The Firmament" ~ 28"x22" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Colorado Landscapes by Connie Tom

Sometimes when I just want to get away from the busy-ness of life, I try to imagine myself somewhere far away from cities and crowded places. Somewhere where I can enjoy the quietness, sometimes in the mountains with water and fresh country air where nature is undisturbed. Waterfalls are mezmerizing to me. To feel the cool mist upon your skin.... Hear the rippling of the water and splash of the waterfall? Now that's living! This is a scene typical of the Rocky Mountains. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed painting it. Connie

"Lanterns of Gold" ~ 20" x 16" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Autumn Tree Landscape Paintings by Connie Tom

It's exhilarating to me to walk through the woods after it rains or when the morning dew is still wet upon the leaves. As the sun begins to shine, the sunlight reflects from off the leaves and glistens like "Lanterns of Gold". This is the first painting I have done a series of autumn tree paintings called "Lanterns of Gold". ~ Enjoy!

"Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous: and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness." ~ Psalm 97:10-12.
